Uninstall Rooster and remove its files
In beta · Apply to test it free
Quit Rooster and drag it from Applications to the Bin. That leaves your recordings and exports untouched in Downloads. To remove Rooster's projects and working files too, find its folder in Settings, Storage before you uninstall, and delete it. Saved API keys are in Keychain Access under com.rooster.app.
Remove the app
- Quit Rooster.
- In Finder, drag Rooster from your Applications folder to the Bin.
Your recordings and exports are not touched: recordings are in Downloads > Rooster and exports in Downloads, unless you saved them elsewhere. So are the files you imported, which Rooster never moved.
If you reinstall Rooster later, your projects are still there.
Remove Rooster's own files as well
Rooster keeps your project library, rendered clips, thumbnails and measurements in its own folder, which Finder hides.
- Before you uninstall, open Settings and choose Storage. Press Remove the speech model… to delete the transcription model, then copy the folder location the page shows.
- Quit Rooster. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder, paste the location, and delete that folder. This also deletes any B-roll you generated with fal.ai, which cannot be made again - move it somewhere first if you want it.
Deleting it removes your projects - their edits, captions and transcripts - for good. Your recordings and exports stay where they are.
Remove saved keys
If you saved an API key for cloud transcription or fal.ai, it is in your login keychain. Open Keychain Access and search for com.rooster.app. The keys are the items whose account is transcription-api-key or fal-api-key; delete them.
