Two small utilities we built because we wanted the answers ourselves. Neither needs an account and neither asks you to upload anything.

Each tool runs entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and nothing you type leaves the page.

  Put in the hours you record, how much AI you use and the quality you export at, and see which Descript plan covers it and what that plan costs at annual and monthly billing.

• Filler word counter

  Paste a transcript and see every um, uh and you know marked in place, with per-word counts and a rough idea of how long they take to say.

Why these two

Rooster is a Mac video editor with the record, transcribe, edit and export loop as its reference workflow. It is in active development and not released. Both tools sit next to a question its readers ask before they get anywhere near an editor: what is this going to cost me a month, and how much of my recording is hesitation. You can answer both without us seeing either your bill or your transcript.
