The people behind Rooster

Dalila and Peter are building Rooster: a transcript-first video editor for Mac that keeps the core recording, editing and export workflow on your own machine.

Why we are building it

Editing talking video should begin with the words, not with a hunt through a crowded timeline. Rooster brings recording, transcription, text-based editing, captions and export into one native Mac application.

It also has a simple economic idea behind it: work done on hardware you already own should not create another media-minute allowance or AI-credit meter. The core workflow runs locally, so your Rooster bill does not grow with the amount you edit.

Who is building Rooster

Peter Duffy’s background is in marketing technology, turning complex requirements into simple, product-led experiences. Dalila and Peter build products together with the same preference for useful software, clear language and fewer moving parts.

Rooster is a small product, and support is read by the people building it. If something is unclear, missing or needlessly complicated, you can tell us directly through the support page.

A claim you can check

Local processing is not a mood or a badge. The how it works page explains what runs on the Mac and what can use the network. Our security page describes how projects and source media are handled, while system requirements states the hardware Rooster is being built for.

Release status

Rooster is in active development and has not been released yet. The site describes the product we are building without pretending that it can already be bought or downloaded.
