Open Settings and choose Storage. It lists what Rooster keeps in its own folder and how much each takes. Rendered clips, thumbnails, audio measurements and the speech model can be cleared, because Rooster can make them again. Your projects and generated B-roll are never cleared from here.
Rooster's recordings and exports live in folders you can see, like Downloads. Alongside them it keeps working files in its own folder. Settings > Storage shows what they are and how much room they take.
What is there
| Category | What it is | Can it be cleared? |
|---|---|---|
| Rendered clips | Studio Sound, Eye Contact, Green Screen and Blur Background results | Yes - Rooster can render them again, which takes as long as it did the first time |
| Generated B-roll | Clips made with your fal.ai key | No - a new generation costs credit and gives a different clip |
| Thumbnails | Poster frames for the Media rail | Yes - rebuilt when needed |
| Audio measurements | Waveforms and pauses Rooster measured | Yes - measured again when a project opens |
| Speech model | Parakeet, for transcription | Yes - downloaded again at the next transcription |
| Project library | Your projects | No - never removed |
Your recordings and exports are not counted here, because they are not in Rooster's folder.
Measure again refreshes the sizes.
Clear something
Press the button under a category - such as Empty the thumbnail cache… or Remove the speech model…. Rooster works out what can go, then says how much space it will free, and what it will keep, before you confirm.
For rendered clips, the button is Remove renders no project can reach…. Rooster keeps any render a project still plays, or that Undo could bring back.
Rooster will not clear anything while a window is open over the project, which is where effects and exports run, and will not remove the speech model while a transcription is running.
Find the folder
The page shows the folder's location. Finder hides it; copy the path into Finder's Go to Folder to look inside. The speech model is stored separately, so it is not in that folder.
