Update Rooster
In closed beta · Not yet on sale
Choose Rooster, then Check for Updates…. If a new version is out, Rooster shows what changed and offers to install it. Early on, Rooster asks whether it may check for updates automatically; say yes and new versions come to you. Updating keeps your projects and recordings.
Rooster updates itself. You do not need to download it again from your invitation.
Check for an update
Choose Rooster > Check for Updates…. If a new version is available, Rooster shows its release notes and offers to install it; after it installs, Rooster relaunches on the new version. If you are up to date, it says so.
Automatic updates
On an early launch, Rooster asks whether it may check for updates on its own. If you say yes, it checks in the background and tells you when there is something new. Either way, Check for Updates… always works by hand.
Checking only fetches a small file describing the newest version. Nothing about you or your projects is sent. See What leaves your Mac.
What changed
Help > What's New in Rooster lists what changed in each version.
Your work is kept
Updating replaces the app and nothing else. Your projects, recordings, exports and settings stay where they are.
Builds without Check for Updates
Check for Updates… is part of the version of Rooster downloaded directly, which is how the closed beta is delivered. A copy from the Mac App Store, when there is one, is updated by the App Store instead.
Checked against Rooster on . Rooster is in closed beta, so a control may move before it ships.
