Teach Rooster to spell names your way

Open Settings, choose Transcription and scroll to Glossary. Type what the transcript writes and how you spell it, and press Add to glossary. Every new transcription is respelled to match, each place marked as a correction you can revert. You can also add a term while correcting a word in the script.
The speech engine spells what it hears, so your name, your product and your field's jargon come out wrong in every recording. The glossary fixes them for you: after each transcription, Rooster respells every term in it.
Add a term in Settings
- Open Settings from the Rooster menu and choose Transcription. Glossary is at the bottom.
- In Transcript writes, type what the transcript gets wrong.
- In Spell it as, type your spelling.
- Press Add to glossary, or Return.
Each side can be up to four words. Rooster refuses an empty side, a spelling that reads the same as what the transcript writes, and a term already in the glossary - it says which, and you can Edit the existing one instead.
Each term shows as a row with Edit and Remove. The glossary stays on your Mac and applies to every project.
Add a term while correcting
When you correct a word in a transcript made on your Mac, the correction box offers a checkbox to always spell it your way in new transcripts. Tick it, and the pair joins the glossary as you correct. See Correct the transcript.
What happens in a new transcript
When a transcription finishes, Rooster respells every glossary term it finds, as whole words, ignoring capitals and punctuation. The script shows Your glossary respelled and how many places. Each respelling is marked as a correction, so it is underlined and you can see what was heard.
The glossary works with Rooster's local engines, Local Parakeet and Local Whisper, because it respells the transcript after the engine has finished and needs to know when each word was said. A transcript from Cloud API comes back without word timings, so the glossary changes nothing in it. It applies to new transcriptions only: it does not change a script you already have. To apply it to an existing project, transcribe it again.
Undo a respelling
If the glossary changed a place it should not have, select it, press Correct and choose Revert to original. Rooster remembers: if you transcribe the project again, that place stays as it was heard.
A correction you make by hand is never respelled by the glossary.
