Export the transcript as text or Markdown
In closed beta · Not yet on sale
Choose File, then Export…, and under Format pick Plain transcript for a .txt file or Markdown for a .md file with the project's title as a heading. Press Choose destination and export…. The text reads as the edited video does: cut words are gone and your corrections are in.
The transcript makes a good first draft of show notes, a blog post or a written version of the video. Rooster exports it as the edited video reads.
Export it
- Choose File > Export… (⇧⌘E).
- Under Format, choose Plain transcript (.txt) or Markdown (.md).
- Press Choose destination and export… and choose where to save it.
What is in it
- The words in the order they play, with your corrections.
- No cut words. The ¦ marks from the script are left out.
- The script's paragraphs, except that where a scene begins at the start of a paragraph, that paragraph is joined to the one before it.
- The Markdown file starts with the project's title as a heading; the plain text file is the words alone.
Neither file has timestamps. For text with timings, export captions instead - see Export SRT or VTT subtitles.
A script you typed
If you typed or pasted a script rather than transcribing, that is what is exported.
When there is nothing to export
If the project has no words yet, the sheet says so and the export button is off. Transcribe the recording or type a script first.
