Add text and titles
In closed beta · Not yet on sale
Open the Elements rail and click Title, Subtitle or Text. It appears on the canvas at the playhead and opens in Adjust, where you type the words and choose the font, weight, size, alignment and colours. Drag it on the canvas to move it.
Titles, lower thirds and labels are elements: layers you place on the canvas over the picture. They live in the Elements rail, with shapes and images.
Add text
- Move the playhead to where the text should appear, or into the scene it belongs to.
- Open the Elements rail and, under Text, click a size: Title, Subtitle or Text.
- The element appears on the canvas, selected, and Adjust opens on it.
- Type your words in its Text field and press Return.
In a project with no scenes it stays on screen for four seconds. In a project divided into scenes, it covers the scene under the playhead. To change its length, use Length under Duration in Adjust.
Style it
In Adjust:
- Font: Helvetica Neue, Avenir Next, Futura, Georgia, American Typewriter or Menlo. Fonts of your own cannot be added.
- Weight and Size.
- Alignment, and Sizing - Auto width, Auto height or Fixed - for how the box grows as you type.
- Text colour, and Background for a box behind the words.
Move and resize it
Drag the text on the canvas to move it; magenta guides show when it lines up. Drag a handle to resize the box. Exact numbers are in Size and position in Adjust.
Shapes and images
- Under Shapes, click Rectangle, Ellipse, Triangle or Star.
- Under Image, click Image… and choose a file - a logo, say. It goes on a layer of its own, placed the same way as text: four seconds at the playhead, or across the scene in a project with scenes.
Captions are separate
Captions come from the transcript and have their own styles. See Add captions to a video.
